What IGI certification means

IGI—the International Gemological Institute—issues independent diamond grading reports. For a lab-grown diamond, its report identifies the stone as laboratory-grown and documents key characteristics such as shape, measurements, carat weight, color, clarity, cut information where applicable, polish, and symmetry.

IGI reports use the familiar 4Cs so you can understand what is being represented and compare the physical diamond to its report. We provide the applicable IGI documentation with your diamond once the selected stone is confirmed.

A laser-inscribed identity

IGI-certified laboratory-grown diamonds carry a laser inscription on the girdle: the thin outer edge of the diamond. Under magnification, this tiny inscription identifies the diamond as laboratory-grown and links it to its IGI report number. It is designed for identification, not everyday viewing.

That report number lets you match the diamond to its documentation and verify the digital report through IGI's official report-lookup service.
